Joyce Royalty
Like other festivals, Joyce Daze features royalty. Young women from the local high school apply for the honor of being Joyce Daze queen or princess. The Joyce Daze Organizing Committee selects young girls based on submitted essays and their record of service in the community.
Pie Making
The sale of pie slices is an important fund raiser for this event. Sold at $3.50 a slice, we raise money to provide several scholarships to graduating seniors from Crescent School, provide funds for other community needs and sponsor the Joyze Daze Festival.
29th Annual Joyce Daze Wild Blackberry Festival
Every year on the first Saturday in August, the town of Joyce, Washington holds its Wild Blackberry Festival called Joyce Daze. Blackberry pie is the main attraction of this event and people come from miles around to enjoy the freshly-baked homemade pies. Last year, volunteers baked over 250 pies, which were sold by the slice or as whole pies after 3 pm. The festival begins with a pancake breakfast held at the Grange Hall, followed by a crafts fair and parade, and ends with a raffle. The days events also include games for the kids, a beard and mustache contest, a salmon bake and entertainment. In previous years, proceeds from the event have provided scholarships for graduating Crescent High School seniors and equipment to the community rescue squad.
The Beginnings...
Joyce Daze began in 1982 thanks to the efforts of Jean Robertson. She felt the need for an event to bring the community of Joyce together.
