29th Annual Joyce Daze Wild Blackberry Festival

Every year on the first Saturday in August, the town of Joyce, Washington holds its Wild Blackberry Festival called Joyce Daze. Blackberry pie is the main attraction of this event and people come from miles around to enjoy the freshly-baked homemade pies. Last year, volunteers baked over 250 pies, which were sold by the slice or as whole pies after 3 pm. The festival begins with a pancake breakfast held at the Grange Hall, followed by a crafts fair and parade, and ends with a raffle. The days events also include games for the kids, a beard and mustache contest, a salmon bake and entertainment. In previous years, proceeds from the event have provided scholarships for graduating Crescent High School seniors and equipment to the community rescue squad.
